MEETING
MINUTES
For March 10, 2015
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Alamo AFA
Chapter President Paul Weseloh at 1730 hours. The meeting was held in the San Antonio Chamber of
Commerce North Business Center.
ATTENDANCE
The following individuals signed
in as attending: Paul Weseloh, Debbie Landry, Dave Pope, Alan
Beaty, Darin Defendorf, Jim Whitmore, Katie McCool, Bill Croom, Daniel Pillar, Joe
Peltier, Alex Panek, Matthew Nugent, David Garver, Ed Garland, John Thurman, Joan
Lopez, Chip Caprez, Douglas Nelson, and Tom Peterson.
AWARD PRESENTATION
Chapter President Paul Weseloh presented Jim
Whitmore with the National AFA Medal of Merit award.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Alan Beaty gave the treasurer’s report. Current
expenditures are on track with budget projections.
MEETING MINUTES
Minutes for the February 10 General
Membership Executive Committee meeting were reviewed. A motion was made and seconded to approve
minutes as written. Motion was approved
by those present.
AWARDS BANQUET REPORT
Paul Weseloh and Debbie Landry thanked David
Garver and his entire support team for the successful organization and
execution of this year’s banquet.
CHAPTER AEROSPACE EDUCATION FOUNDATION (AEF)
REPORT
Dave Pope reported that submissions for the
Family Education Scholarship program are being received.
AIR FORCE
WOUNDED AIRMAN PROGRAM
Jim Whitmore reported that there will be a
table at the Texas Valero Open golf tournament to help publicize the program.
MEMBERSHIP
Katie McCool reported on some of the membership
issues being discussed at the National AFA level. She also mentioned some of the possible
upcoming chapter enlisted (AFA-E) membership activities. Later in the meeting David Garver reported on
the upcoming planned AFA-E enlisted mixers.
COMMUNITY PARTNER NEWS
Darin Defenforf reported a local First Command Financial Planning group has
signed up as a new community partner.
FLAMBEAU PARADE UPDATE
Eric Renth briefed on the past history and
current level of our chapter’s participation in the Fiesta Flambeau
Parade. This will the 15th
year of our participation.
MILITARY NIGHT OUT (MNO)
John Thurman, Chapter Programs VP reported
that some current issues being worked for MNO is transportation form Lackland
and civilian parking downtown.
CYBER PATRIOT
The meeting concluded with a general
discussion of the recent city Cyber Patriot awards ceremony and cyber patriot
activities in general.
CHAPTER CALENDAR
The on-line calendar is available on the
chapter web-site at www.alamoafa.org . If anyone has activities to be
posted to the calendar, please forward the information to Douglas Nelson by
email at dnelson004@outlook.com. Douglas also asked that if anyone has photos of any chapter activities
they email them to him with captions so he can post to the photo section of the
chapter web site.
A motion was made, seconded and approved to
adjourn the meeting. Alamo AFA Chapter
President Paul Weseloh did so at 1830 hours.
