MEMBERSHIP UPDATE

Kathleen McCool reported that from January through June of 2014 the chapter has signed up 23 new members.  This is half of the new memberships for all chapters in Texas.

TEXAS DOT SPECIALTY PLATE PROGRAM

The chapter recently received $645 for our share of the Texas DOT specialty plate program.  However, AFA participation in the program may be at risk because, starting next year, organizations whose custom plates do not get at least 200 new and renewal registrations per year will be dropped from the program.  Texas AFA participation in the program is currently just below that cut off point.  Please check this program out as 70 percent of the custom plate fees come back to support Texas AFA chapters.  Here is a link to the web site:  https://rts.texasonline.state.tx.us/NASApp/txdotrts/SpecialPlateOrderServlet?grpid=60&pltid=70  .

NATIONAL AFA EMERGING LEADER PROGRAM

Gary Copsey announced that Deborah Landry has been selected for the National AFA Emerging Leader Program.  This is a yearlong program for members nominated by State AFA presidents to gain insight into the workings of AFA at the National level.  Only 10 individuals nationwide were selected this year and Deborah is the only one from the Texas/Oklahoma region.  If any members are interested in finding out more about this program please contact Gary Copsey at copseyg@hotmail.com .

WOUNDED WARRIOR UPDATE

Jim Whitmore attended a three day Wounded Warrior camp event at Randolph AFB.  A general discussion on projected future chapter and chapter AEF support levels for this program was held.

CHAPTER AEF UPDATE

Chapter AEF President David Pope reported that the foundation has already committed about two thirds of their annual projected monetary awards and have the remainder obligated but not yet committed.

CYBER PATRIOT

Douglas Nelson reported that there is an ongoing effort across the Cyber Patriot program to encourage more female participants.  Also, the new Mayor of San Antonio has expressed interest in the Cyber Patriot program and Douglas recommends we work with the program to brief and educate the Mayor on the local AFA origination and support of the program.  Ed Garland mentioned that the Civil Air Patrol is hosting a cyber-summer camp with 40 participants.

CHAPTER CALENDAR

The on-line calendar is available on the chapter web-site at alamoafa.org.  If anyone has activities to be posted to the calendar, please forward the information to Douglas Nelson by email at dnelson004@satx.rr.com . Douglas also asked that if anyone has photos of any chapter activities they email them to him with captions so he can post to the photo section of the chapter web site.

A motion was made, seconded and approved to adjourn the meeting.  Alamo AFA Chapter President Paul Weseloh did so at 1830 hours.
