MEETING
MINUTES
For July 9, 2013
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Alamo AFA
Chapter President Al Swaim. The meeting was held in the Randolph AFB Kendrick
Club Tradition Room at 5pm.
ATTENDANCE
The following individuals signed
in as attending: Al Swaim, Alan Beaty, Randy Coggins, Joan Lopez, Ray
Cornish, Jim Whitmore, Deborah Landry, Ron Colunga, Tex Brown, Levette Stone,
Nicole Basnight, Joe Peltier, Douglas Nelson, and Tom Peterson.

MEETING MINUTES
Minutes from last meeting were reviewed. A motion to accept the minutes as presented
was made, seconded, and passed by those present.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Alan Beaty presented the treasurer’s
report. The first quarter 2013 rebate
check from AFA National has been received.
IRS filings are progressing with an August due date. The treasurers
report was accepted as presented.
AFA AFSC CATEGORY SALUTE PROGRAM
CMSgt Cody at Randolph is working with Al
Swaim to allow our chapter to present the award to the winning AETC Loadmaster
at a future date to be determined.
AFA NATIONAL SPOUSE SCHOLARSHIP
Two scholarships were presented to
individuals in the San Antonio area. Al
Swaim was able to personally present one of the awards.
24AF COMMANDERS RETIREMENT CEREMONY
Certificate from chapter was presented by AFA
National representative Bob Largent.
WOUNDED WARRIER FAMILY ASSISTANCE
We participated in two activities last
month. One was Gary Copsey working with
base programs to provide meals to WW families.
Deborah Landry and Tom Peterson represented the chapter at the Hearts
Apart Dog Park Day and handed our water bottles as well as doggy treats for the
pets. Pictures are on the chapter web
site.
ALS SUPPORT GRANT
Al Swaim reported that after extended
consultation with the Judge Advocate representatives a method to allow chapter
monetary support to the ALS program has been finalized. This is an effort that has been working for
an extended period.
MILITARY NIGHT FOUNDATION
Al Swaim
reported that the Military
City USA Foundation is looking
at having a recurring Friday night activity for BMT graduates and their
families to welcome them down town.
Several support organizations may be asked to help support this. When more details are brought forward we can
look at our capability to help support this activity.
CELEBRATE AMERICAS’S MILITYARY WEEK
We will be
looking for volunteers to be chapter POC for the city’s SAM week. Any volunteers please contact Al Swaim.
Civil Air Patrol Glider Camp
Chapter
received a request to fund $500 to support one local cadet selected to
attend. Members present approved the
concept but asked that the request be forwarded to the chapter AEF for
consideration.
MEETING SCHEDULE
The September
10, 2013 general membership Executive Committee meeting will be held at the Randolph
AFB Kendrick Club.
